You are probably familiar with H. G. Wells' "The Time Machine", a science fiction masterpiece. The hero builds a machine that transports him hundreds of thousands of years into the future where he meets two different species of human beings; Elois and Morlocks. The Elois enjoy their day-to-day lives. They live in beautiful gardens and ruins amid fragrant flowers and tasty fruits. They are pretty but useless. The Morlocks live underground with production machines where it is dark and dangerous. They produce things and supply them to the Elois whom they treat as food animals. Morlocks are ugly but productive. Frankfurt’s underground stations remind me of the Morlocks' underground world. Artfully designed train stops, fantastic architectural sites, unreal life patterns and energizing dynamics when trains arrive and depart from the stations are the highlights of this virtual world. “Down Under” is the first photograph of this series. The traces of Morlocks at work can be seen along with some resting Morlocks.
